(wasnt sure wither to put this here or tech move if needed)

If you want to take a shot, be my guest. It would be much appreciated.

Lets see....

The patient is a 1.8Lr Ford Focus Zetec, 2000 model. (W reg)

Things checked already:

Compression test, cylinders check out fine.
New sparks.
Altenator has been checked and is working ok.
No holes in the tubes.
Fluids topped up (Oil, coolant, water) (oil change pending in the next couple of weeks)
Cam belt has about 12 months left on it.
Sensors read as OK.
Need a new air filter. (will be getting it this week)

Things fixed already:

4 new suspension springs.
new bonnet lock
new keys cut (lost my only one in a foot of snow,,,, I was drunk)
Some "clips" for the brakes, no idea what it was now.
Handbrake. (was only registering 14% effective)
New track rod.
New brake peddle rubber.
New drop links (this may be the above clips?)

Suspects:

Ignition coil.
Leads going to the sparks.
The block that sits on top of the air pipe coming off the box with the air filter in it. I forget it's actual name sorry.

I picked up my wife from work one day and it was running fine, i got in the car about 30 mins later and it's making this kind of put put noise and there was a noticable drop in power. It now sounds like my mates Evo6. There's a bit of a rumble when it goes and you have to stamp hard on the accelerator pedal to get any go out of it and because of the constant high rev i need, it's developed a drinking problem.

If I'm pooteling along at 30mph, it needs to be in 3rd gear as 4th makes it sound like it's about to stall which gets gradually worse when theres anyone else other than me in the car.

There's also an electrical crackle that comes through the radio which is pretty much in time with the previously mentioned "put put" noise.

If you can point me in the direction of a fix that doesn't require me to pull my pants down regarding the cost, you will be worshiped as a god and people will write songs about you.

Cheers guys.

im a diesel tech but in my opinion it sounds like fuel problem wich you probly guessed but you could try...

1. replaceing fuel filter or by passing it with pipe i dunno if you do alot of car work and would know how to do this or not with pipe

2. remove ure air filter and run it without air filter just to see if it gets rid of problem

3. if youve replaced any fuel likes e.g checked fuel pipes removed them ect check there not kinked evan smallest kinks can affect it as ive found from experince lol

other than those im kinda stuck soulfly is petrol head Razz maby hel know if these dont work

ht leads could cause this problem if they are split,if you cant aford to replace them spray wd-40 over all of them this can sometimes be a short term fix if they are fooked, dont cost much and worth replacing if you have done all the other usal service stuff

a hole in any air pipe or box can cause this also, replace that and see how it runs.get to your local scrap yard/breakers

if the air filter is really bad it wont help either, the engine needs to breath

if theres been a hole and crap has got in,might be worth trying some carb/injection cleaner, you will find this in places like halfords(halfrauds) or any motor factor

some ideas, always check the small basic/stupid things first 9/10 its a easy fix

Fixed.

Replaced the Ignition coil and HT leads and happy days. Took it for a quick test and actually managed to make the wheels spin.
